Glenwestcastle Stud Visit:

Saturday July 26^th one a very hot and sultry day for our stud visit. Several HPEC members & non members gathered at Glenwestcastle Highland Pony Stud. Everybody seemed to enjoy their fun packed highland pony day. 

Our visit began with a demonstration on harnessing the driving pony. Shennachie Glen Moray was kitted out by mum and then driven by John O’brien. We invited some of the children in the crowd to have a ride alongside John up the lane and back. Murray on his return demonstrated his agility by driving through the cones, not bad going for an old boy. He loved having the crowd to show off to.

A delicious lunch followed, prepared by Peter. He had been up the night before getting everything ready. I was totally suprised when presented with a beautiful birthday cake with a picture of Hazel on it, I had a few tears it was such a lovely thought. Thank you guys.   

 

After lunch we all gathered around the ménage to watch a dressage to music demonstration with Johnsondene & Becky. The first part was to ‘ Flower of Scotland' with bagpipes. They rode on through the heat and continued to dance to The Proclaimers ‘500 Miles’ and then the crowd wanted more! So they went back to the old faith full their showman's music The Pirates of the Caribbean sound track. JJ did us proud and showed everyone what a super star he is. He then went onto give a few of the children a ride round and some of the adults a ride also. He loved being in the spotlight
